When I see this ad it makes me laugh. But it also makes me ask the question what is being advertised? This is because the image is so random and eye catching, but I know it is an ad, that I am led to this result. Since it is not obvious right off the bat what is being offered the advertisers have won another battle. All of this based on a simple picture of a mouse.
I choose this ad for the simple fact that it was funny. That's all it needed. However this is not always the case. There are certain products where funny doesn't always work. The best example I can think of is cars. I think that there are far to many funny car ads out there that don't present any useful information by way of engaging the audience. This ad is able to present humor and get me involved, which is very unique.
This ad teaches us that ads can be very flexible in nature and that using different techniques is a job that has to be done with care. This ad's humor is used perfectly to rope in the audience. But in my car ad memories it is easy for humor to mask a commercial in such a way that no extra effort is needed. This is their biggest mistake. The effectiveness of this vision ad is that it makes the viewer, me, go beyond and want to know what is being advertised which is the very thing that keeps those ads from working for me.
